Serving Our Community

We at Christ Lutheran create and maintain programs to meet the needs and opportunities for service to the community. Our congregation has been actively involved in numerous programs and events such as those listed below:

Backpack Buddies

We partner between the Georgetown Ministerial Alliance and community volunteers to provide a bag of food for the school to send home with children who qualify to receive food to address needs for the weekend or school holiday.

Meals on Wheels

We provide drivers 5 times a year and participate in fundraisers (i.e. Applebee’s monthly donation of a % of customers’ bills). In addition, our peanut butter/jelly campaign we hold in July of each year, raises a month’s supply for Meals on Wheels clients.

A shelter for teens qualified as homeless by the Georgetown ISD, was made possible by wide community support through leadership of The Georgetown Project. As a safe haven for those without a place to go to after school, the NEST (Nurturing, Empowering, and Supporting for Tomorrow) offers a place where students in the 9th through 12th grades can go to eat a hot evening meal and get counseling services, tutorial help and a general support system.
During the month of April we will be providing the Monday evening meals for Georgetown’s transitional day shelter for homeless teens. If you can help with meal preparation or delivery, there is a sign up sheet and flyer at the information center in the narthex. If you have questions about this ministry, contact Jan Rodgers.
