Role Description
The Director of Discipleship Ministries will join our passionate, high-energy, flexible, faithful, and fun staff team as part of our growing congregation. They will work to sustain and grow our ministries that help us deepen our faith and live it out in daily life. The Director will steward the vision for how our congregation and its members grow in faith. This position will work with the Discipleship Team, Lead Pastor, and Faith Formation Admin to design and implement opportunities to grow in faith together across generations and life stages.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Pastor to set the vision for the year for how our congregation hopes to grow as disciples and live our faith in daily life
- Plan, Lead, and Equip other leaders to put the vision into action.
- Provide primary leadership for NextGen ministries (teen and young adult)
- Support and Encourage children and youth Sunday School teachers and assist them in recruiting additional volunteers
- Create and Carry Out special events that build relationships among families and give them resources to reflect and grow in faith together (i.e. a service learning event they can do together, a movie night and reflection on the themes of the film as they relate to faith)
- Recommend resources for discipleship ministry leaders (i.e. women’s book and Bible studies, men’s group studies, couples classes, etc.)
- Participate in long range planning for discipleship ministry at Christ Lutheran Church (i.e. retreats, workshops, building out a once per month youth & family evening), leading and coordinating these initiatives and programs as they come to fruition.
Skills, Experience, Education
- Required
- Faith and trust in God and the ability to articulate and share that faith with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
- Experience working with a variety of ages and abilities
- Preferred
- Familiarity with Canva a plus
- Familiarity with Lutheran (ELCA) theology and church history
- Education related to teaching, youth ministry, theology strongly preferred
- Experience working in a church setting and leading ministries related to discipleship
Specific Position Information
- Full-time position - this position is full-time, based on an average 40 hours per work week that includes work on Sunday mornings, nights, weekends, and the occasional overnight event for summer camps, retreats, or other trips.
- Benefits- include paid time off (PTO), continuing education, retirement, and health.
- Salary - salary is commensurate with experience and aligned with CLC's annual budget, and will be negotiated as part of an employment offer. Expected pay range is $50,000-60,000 per year.
